Frequently Asked Questions
Do You Accept Insurance? I believe in empowering my clients to have the freedom to choose their therapist, treatment length, and type of therapy, which isn't always possible when working within the constraints of insurance coverage. Therefore, I am considered an out-of-network, cash-pay provider and do not accept insurance directly. However, I can provide you with a Superbill, a detailed receipt coded for insurance purposes, which you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement if you have out-of-network benefits.
Out-Of-Network Questions to Ask Your Provider What does my plan cover for out-of-network, out-patient mental health counseling with a Licensed Professional Counselor? Is individual counseling covered? Is Family counseling covered? Is couples counseling covered? Are there any diagnoses that are not covered? How many visits are covered per year? What's my out-of-network deductible? If you are not in the state of Missouri it is unlikely your insurance will cover our work together.
Do You Accept HSA/ FSA Cards? HSA, FSA and all major credit cards are accepted for payment.
Do You Have a Sliding Scale for Services? I understand that everyone's financial situation is unique, and I'm committed to making therapy accessible. I have a limited number of spots available for those who need a reduced rate. If you think this might apply to you, please reach out, and we can discuss the options. My goal is to ensure that financial barriers don't stand in the way of getting the support you need.
Do You See People In Person or Zoom/ Telehealth? I offer both in-person and Zoom/telehealth sessions! My office is conveniently located off Manchester & 141, near Vetta Soccer and across from Nordstrom Rack—(one of these two landmarks people often recognize). While I love meeting in person to give you the chance to retreat from the world, relax, and feel fully supported, I also understand the convenience of telehealth. If getting to my office isn't an option, we can easily connect via a HIPAA-protected link from @simplepractice. Telehealth is a great option if you’re out of the area, need to save commute time, prefer meeting during a lunch break, or just want a quick check-in.
What Do Your Sessions Look Like? I believe in maximizing our time together and recognize that you are investing in yourself, so I strive to ensure our sessions are as effective and impactful as possible. All sessions are individualized combining various modalities, techniques and theories that will support my clients needs. Instead of the typical 50 min session, mine last longer in order to give you time to relax and process. -Assessment Sessions: 1.5 to 2 hours -Individual Sessions: usually last 1 hour to 1.15 -Couples/Family Session: 1.5 to 1.75 Additional time for any session can be added on if requested prior. Additionally, after our sessions I will send you home with, or email, any big thoughts, methods or exercises we discussed. And how you can continue to process and work through things on your own in between your sessions. I’ve found that with my enhanced session format and the ongoing support between sessions, many clients start feeling better more quickly, even while meeting less frequently than they have with other therapists or life/mindset coaches in the past. They often share that this approach leaves them feeling more empowered in their healing journey, as it gives them the space to explore and apply the techniques on their own.
I’ve Never Invested In Myself In This Way Before, How Do I Justify the Expense? Investing in therapy or life/mindset coaching is a powerful step toward creating lasting positive change in your life. It’s understandable to question the expense, especially if you’ve never invested in yourself in this way before. Here’s how to justify the investment: 1.Accelerated Growth and Results: Working with a trained therapist like me means you benefit from specialized expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, and The Daring Way™. This expertise can help you achieve meaningful breakthroughs more quickly than going it alone, saving you time and energy. 2.Personalized Support: The investment provides you with a tailored approach to your unique challenges. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space where we can dive deep into your goals and obstacles, leading to more effective and efficient progress. 3.Long-Term Benefits: Therapy and coaching aren’t just about immediate relief; they create lasting changes that touch every part of your life. The skills and insights you gain will improve your overall well-being, relationships, and personal growth, offering ongoing benefits far beyond our sessions. 4.Quality of Life: Investing in yourself is an investment in your future. By addressing issues that may be holding you back, you’re enhancing your quality of life and setting yourself up for greater success and happiness. 5.Empowerment and Self-Discovery: This investment helps you discover your strengths, build resilience, and empower yourself to make lasting, positive changes. It’s a commitment to becoming the best version of yourself. Investing in therapy or coaching is a step toward a more fulfilling, balanced, and empowered life.
Does Counseling Really Work, or Can I Just Do It On My Own? Yes, therapy and life/mindset coaching really work! Therapy offers a safe, non-judgmental space to explore emotions, identify patterns, and develop strategies for growth. With over a decade of experience, I bring expertise in CBT, EMDR, and The Daring Way™, guiding you toward the breakthroughs you need. Investing in yourself through therapy or life coaching can feel like a big leap, but it’s truly a game-changer. While I can’t guarantee specific results, I can promise that when you commit fully and stay consistent, amazing things happen. This work is powerful—it's not just about temporary change; it creates lasting impact in every part of your life. You get one life—why not optimize every aspect? Let’s get started!
