Support, whenever you need it

Answers to common questions, and immediate resources if you need them right now.

Frequently Asked

What happens in a first consultation?

It's a low-pressure conversation, not a commitment. We'll talk through what's bringing you in, what you're hoping for, and whether Sea-Change feels like the right fit — for therapy or coaching. There's no obligation to continue after.

How do I know if I need therapy or coaching?

Therapy tends to focus on healing, processing, and mental health — the individual, couples, family, and adolescent/athlete work on the Services page. Coaching (High Performer Coaching, Team Consultation) is more forward-looking, built for people who are already functioning well and want to perform and lead with more clarity. If you're not sure which fits, say so in your consultation — that's a normal question to bring.

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. As a licensed clinical social worker, L.A. is bound by standard therapist-client confidentiality and HIPAA, with the same narrow legal exceptions (like imminent risk of harm) that apply to every licensed therapist.

What does it cost, and do you take insurance?

This varies by service, so it's best addressed directly — reach out or bring it up in your consultation and L.A. will walk you through current rates and payment options.

What if I'm in crisis right now?

Please don't wait for a consultation — use the crisis resources below. They're free, immediate, and available whether or not you ever become a client here.
